"Kun [Aguero] has to play for Real Madrid," the Mail reports Maradona told Radio de la Red. "Even though he is flying at City, the best thing would have been to sign for Madrid. He made a mistake.
"Now, as he is doing so well, it will be difficult to get him from City. However if Madrid want someone, they get them. Florentino [Perez, Madrid's president] has no limits. It's a question of convincing City - but not with money because they have plenty of that."
It's unlikely that City wants to part ways with the Argentine star, but his name continues to appear on Madrid's not-so-secret list of transfer targets.
Aguero joined City last summer from Atletico Madrid. The club paid a record fee of £38 million ($60.8 million) for him, and he has repaid it in some style. His 24 goals in 41 games make him a contender for "Player of the Season" honors, and City is locked in a title race with cross-town rival Manchester United.

Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain could be used as part of a cash-plus-swap deal, according to AS. But Club manager Jose Mourinho angrily denied those rumors on Tuesday.
Maradona's words certainly carry some weight with the City striker. He led Aguero to the 2010 FIFA World Cup as Argentina's head coach. The soccer legend also led his daughter, Giannina, down the aisle on her wedding day and gave her to her now husband Aguero.
Diego Maradona weighed in on what could be this summer's biggest transfer saga. The Argentine legend is urging Sergio Aguero to leave Manchester City for Real Madrid, according to the Mail.
