Although Hernanes is a talented and creative player (who has represented his country), it's unlikely LFC will shell out a sizeable fee for a player of his profile.

Which makes the Liverpool link seem unlikely. The club's tranfer policy centers around buying younger players. LFC hopes to develop them over the length of their contract and sell at a profit if necessary. Hernanes, 26, is a ready-made star who will command a hefty transfer fee and salary from his next club.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has a number of center midfield options at his disposal. He thinks highly of "Wee" Jay Spearing and Jonjo Shelvey. Last summer he invested £23 million ($36.4 million) in bringing Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam to the club. Lucas should return from injury next season and partner a fully fit Steve Gerrard in that part of the field.

His contributions over two seasons -- 19 goals in 64 league games -- make the £9 million ($14.2 million) transfer fee seem like a steal.
