Whether it is because of its unusual triangular footprint or the fact that a sumptuous Yohji Yamamoto boutique occupied it previously, the new Marni space at 1 Gansevoort Street, (646) 532-6015, empty for many months, seemed destined for a special tenant.

Indeed, Consuelo Castiglioni’s quirky Marni Edition designs for women and men, as well as her children’s collection, have enlivened the space and a sleepy stretch of the meatpacking district. Though there are Marni outposts in SoHo and on the Upper East Side, this is the first United States location for Marni Edition, a slightly less expensive line with prices that may still keep us waiting for Ms. Castiglioni’s H&M debut in March.
