Hautelinks- Week of 9-10-10

Hautelinks: Week of 9/10/10

Hautelinks - your weekly source for the best of the web

This week’s list is a little late – sorry! We’re getting ready to start our New York Fashion Week coverage, and everything is a little insane at the moment! Don’t worry, though – despite this week’s Hautelinks lateness, the list is as good as ever. We found lots of great stuff to share with you guys this week. Enjoy!

* In case you missed the drama of high school, NYFW will bring you right back… Seriously, I know it shouldn’t shock me, but I am always surprised at how high school clique-y the industry can be sometimes. Yikes.

* How to Get Flawless Runway Model Skin, from The Fashion Spot. Yes, please!

* If you want some new people to follow on Twitter, ShopBop’s amazing blog interviews fabulous fashion people worth following! A few of the twitter accounts were new to me.

* A little self-promotion: I was featured in MediaShift’s article How College Students Became Mini-Media Moguls. See me talk about skipping class and spacing out in Bio to check out people’s oufits, haha!

* Stylelist breaks down how to wear the menswear trend for fall. Good tips!

* 9 Essential Clothing Repair Skills will show you how to do simple fixes and alterations on your clothes to keep them looking fabulous for longer! Definitely a must-bookmark.

* Celebrate fashion week by recreating the makeup looks from the Fall 2010 runways! I’m obsessed with the Preen and DVF looks.

* How cool is this 120 zipper dress? Okay, it’s a little impractical coach outlet online, but so perfect for editorials.

* Fun: Match the Designer to the Music Playlist! I think musical taste says so much about a person.

* Sundance’s documentary, The Day Before, which follows DVF, Donatella Versace Coach Factory Online, Alexander Wang, Narciso Rodriguez and more in the 36 hours leading up to their Fall 2010 shows, premiered on September 8th. In case you missed it on TV, check out some videos from the documentary here.

* For those of you who like to plan ahead, check out the top 10 colors for spring 2011 and get shopping!

* Is Elle Fanning the next style star? She’s adorable.

* If you’re in the UK, stop by Selfridges to check out Lily Allen’s pop up store to browse unique dresses by Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin, and more!

* Random: The Frisky lists 10 “girly” foods they want created. While some sound kinda good, most just sound kinda disgusting.

* Also from The Frisky, Confessions of a Regretful Gender Studies Student is an interesting read about the choices we make in college, and how not all college classes are as valuable as others. The comments section is worth reading, too.

* We <3 Alexa Chung! Two Alexa articles we loved: Daily Candy’s Interview with Alexa Chung, and Alexa Chung’s Fashion and Favorites.

* On the same subject Louis Vuitton Belts, check out Alexa’s collection for Madewell Louis Vuitton Official Website, via Refinery 29. Looks pretty great.

* New research that could make you rethink your study habits, via the NY Times. Interesting stuff!

* Also from the Times, Sunday shopping may make you less happy. Who knew?

* Could Steve Madden own Betsey Johnson one day? I hope Betsey and her company work this out. It’d be so sad to see this happen!

* Refinery 29 shows us 5 super easy fall hairstyles.

* The Daily Mail UK breaks down fall fashion from a to z. It’s always interesting to check out what’s going on in the UK, fashion-wise and then comparing that to what’s happening in the US.

* In case you missed it, Fashion’s Night Out: The Show (a huge, huge fashion show with a star-studded list of models and designers) happened on the 7th, and NY Mag has tons of photos to check out!

* Mmm, food-inspired beauty!

* CasaSugar did a feature on dorm room decorating tips from HGTV’s Taniya Nayak. Some are obvious, but the rest are pretty unique and creative!

* Do you attend one of America’s douchiest colleges? Haha.

* I laughed so hard at this: 8.4 Million New Yorkers Suddenly Realize New York City A Horrible Place To Live.

* So if it’s only $5 but you never actually wear it, is it still a bargain?

* Wanna major in Gaga?

* TresSugar’s nightmare roommate stories will (hopefully) have you appreciating your own roomie even more. Even though she eats your food and brings her loud friends over while you’re trying to study, it could be much, much worse.

* Nick Lachey & Vanessa Minnillo: Newlyweds 2.0? As a former Newlyweds Nick & Jessica fangirl (admit it, you loved that show too!), I don’t know if I could be OK with this.

* So rad: Women finally out-earn men.. & how we can keep it that way.

* Got invited to your first frat party? Read Crushable’s survival guide first!

* Also from Crushable, one story about becoming a vegan and living the lifestyle. This girl proves it’s not that hard if you’re dedicated!

* Bliss offers college students 20% off louis vuitton handbags! Nice!

That’s all we’ve got for this week! Make sure to leave a comment and let us know what you think. Happy Friday!
